San José, June 2010. Through its Association of Costa Rican Medical Services (Asociación de Servicios Médicos Costarricenses - ASEMECO), Hospital Clínica Bíblica entered into a Framework Agreement with the Junta de Beneficencia (Charity Board) of Guayaquil, Ecuador, for the purpose of implementing social promotion programs and charity activities focused to scientific development, training of professionals of high scientific capacity, healthy medical practices and diffusion of the medical science.
All projects to be developed will be directed to assistance services to low income persons, mainly in the areas of health (general, maternity, children’s and mental), education and the elderly, guaranteeing and being committed to quality and constant progress in the provision of healthcare services.
A specialized professional will be designated to manage each project and evaluate progress on a yearly basis, for the purpose of identifying areas of improvement and growth of the projects.
This agreement is for a term of five years and will be implemented in hospital centers such as: “Luis Vernaza” General Hospital; “Enrique C. Sotomayor” Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital; “Dr. Roberto Gilbert Elizalde” Children’s Hospital; and “Lorenzo Ponce” Psychiatric Hospital; and also covers the General Cemetery of Guayaquil and its Funerary Agency, and various Asylums and Educational Centers in Ecuador.
According to Jorge Cortés, Medical Director of Hospital Clínica Bíblica, “being a party to these agreements allows Hospital Clínica Bíblica to grow in the areas of corporate excellence, research and teaching, because we make our experience, infrastructure and knowledge available to vulnerable populations both in Costa Rica and in Ecuador, a fellow country that saw in Hospital Clínica Bíblica an alley to grow and strengthen itself in the social area”.
Hospital Clínica Bíblica has a Social Action Department, which develops healthcare programs and projects directed to the attention of a very underprivileged population; being also engaged in the development, study, research and practice of medicine under a framework of healthcare excellence. For this purpose, it implements recognized training activities and institutional management actions directed to satisfy modern needs.
