The Clínica Bíblica Hospital included the service of Specialized Physiotherapy for problems of the head and neck, which will allow those patients who suffer from muscular or joint problems, or a post-surgical scarring problem, or a lesion from burns, to benefit from treatment protocols which will permit a more rapid healing.

This specialty is among those offered by the Dr. Chin Wo Dental Center, which added Dr. María José Ramírez Sánchez, physiotherapist, specialist in problems of the head and neck, to the workforce.

“When a patient has a problem in his jaw, he shows muscular pain or pain around the ear. Upon being treated by a specialized physiotherapist in that specific area, applying movements, relaxation therapy or, in some cases, cold or hot therapy, or therapy with ultrasound, this will promote relaxation of the muscle or of the joint,” mentions Dr. Jorge Chin Wo, dental surgeon.

Those patients who have suffered burns can also benefit from procedures of physiotherapy, as there are therapies which encourage a better irrigation of the zone, allowing the burn to heal in less time.

These therapies of massage applied by Dr. Ramírez can also be applied to treat patients who have had maxillofacial or plastic surgery and have been left with “edemas” or great swellings. Relaxation movements will help immensely to reduce inflammation in the patient more quickly.

This innovative specialty will also help patients who have experienced extensive dental treatment or patients who suffer from bruxism (people who grind their teeth involuntarily) due to stress or anxiety. These patients suffer from muscular pain in their faces, headaches, pain in the neck, etc. “Physiotherapy provides a very effective treatment for these conditions,” affirms Dr. Jorge Chin Wo.
